The SR9 is Ruger's first striker-fired semi-auto pistol chambered in 9mm. It is available in a bright stainless/polymer or black stainless/polymer, and it is available in a compact version as well. I purchased the full size version, and since I am 6'6" over 300#, I have no problem concealing this weapon under a vest or jacket. This weapon works VERY well in an IWB holster due to its slim profile. I have always been a Ruger fan, and they have done it again!! GREAT JOB RUGER!!

I originally purchased the SR9 as an IDPA pistol, and it is well suited for that purpose. The ADS capability of the SR9 IMHO, is as good if not better than many other pistols available today. I have Glocks, Sigs, Kimbers, Springfields, Tauruses, and other Rugers, and the SR9 is one of my favorites for plinking and IDPA matches. With some MAgTech or Pow'r Ball ammo in it, it makes a fine CCW pistol as well. The recoil, even with high power defensive ammo, is extremely manageable, even shooting weak hand only.

Breakdown is a breeze!! I can field strip this pistol in less than 15 seconds. That is very comparable to my 1911's and Sigs. Verify the weapon cleared, jack the slide, drop the mag, push out the breakdown pin, hold the slide, trip the slide release, DONE!! Ready to be cleaned. Very user freindly in the cleaning and maintenance department. Even complete breakdown of the slide assembly is very quick and efficient. After doing this a few times, complete breakdown, oiling, and reassembly took a total of about 15 minutes. Field strip cleaning takes about 5 minutes.

The SR9's accuracy is legendary Ruger in action. From a bench at 25 yards using various plink-o-matic ammo, the SR9 consistently gets groups of 1.75" or better. Offhand with the good ammo it still pokes holes within an inch and a half of each other. The three-dot sights that came with it are more than adequate for most purposes, and the rear sight is adjustable by click (elevation) and drift (windage).

Overall, the Ruger SR9 is a highly recommended purchase. I bought two of them, and I may purchase a new compact model to keep in the truck or in my waistband holster.

For just a shade over $400.00, I got the pistol, two 17 round magazines, a mag loading tool, a nice form fit plastic case (as with all of my Ruger pistols), and that cool padlock with the Ruger logo on it!! Now, if I could just get them to throw in a polo shirt......

If you can afford the high end pistols, good for you. If you don't buy a Ruger SR9 to complement them, then shame on you. Most of us in the real world are looking for reliability, longevity, and affordability. The SR9 fits all three of those categories very well.
