I know most people seem to have strong opinions one way or another when it comes to KelTecs, so I thought I'd give it whirl to just find out for myself. Purchased the PF9 firearm a few weeks ago and just put about 100 rounds through it for the recommended break-in period. Used Winchester FMJ white box and worked perfectly, no malfunctions was so ever. Bought it for CCW, and I must say, for the size, weight, power, and price for this weapon, so far my impression is that it can't be beat. I have the hard chrome finish with OD grip; I believe retail is about 370, and I only paid 279 new. I must say the only real thing that I'm not wild about is the hard uncomfortable grip with some sharp edges that should have been shaved off in my opinion at the factory, but I can't complain for the price and overall function of this pistol. I'm going to try the Hogue Handall Jr grip sleeve, which I think will make up for the poor grip aspect and may even help with recoil control. I know others are not wild about the long DAO trigger pull, but personally I do not mind it, and did not find it to be a problem for me; it reminds me of a long revolver pull, but much smoother. I also have long fingers and love the ratio from the grip to the trigger which is perfect for me. Also, the long trigger in my opinion works in favor of its owner and for safety, especially for a CCW weapon. |

As far as recoil goes, yes it is much more than you would expect for a full size higher priced 9mm, but you have to expect this in a trade off for the smaller size and weight of this weapon. I think it is still manageable enough to handle rather easily. It may not be a range gun, but hey, its a CCW personal protection weapon. Breakdown is really simple and quick, and as far as cleaning goes, I found it much quicker to clean than some of my other weapons, but again I guess you can expect this with a smaller size weapon as well. As far was accuracy goes, I found it to be rather accurate during the first 100 rounds through it, I'm not the best marksman, but for what its intended to be used for as a personal protection weapon, most of that would take place within 30 feet, and I had no problems with descent grouping within that range of shorter of course. |

As far as features go, again, the small size (length and width) and weight (combined with the price) make it great for CCW. Note that on this weapon, pushing the slide stop will not release it when its locked back, you have to manually release it (no problem for me). Also, there is no magazine disconnect so it will fire a chambered round without the magazine (also, not a problem for me). |
