S&W 642 38 SPL+P. I have 3 S&W handguns. My first 2 were purchased brand new, back when S&W was owned by the British, in the late 1990's ( A compleatly anti gun country ) These are the 2 worst guns that I own, as far as accuracy is concerned. However, S&W was sold to a US company after the grass root boycot by American people. S&W had made a deal with the feds to restrick displying guns to the public, in order to escape penilties. Since that trime the qualitry has gone way up. My 642 is one of my favorites guns, it's a joy to shoot, its light handles great and runs on all brands of ammo. It is very accurateout to 10 yards ( iron sights ) and utterly reliable. I have read articles in respected magazines that when teamed up with a good laser they can even produce resonable groups at 20 & 25 yards. I am realy happy with it and can't think of anything negitive. Also remember that ruger just came out with a new subcompact revolver in 30 SPL+P which also has a 5 round cylinder & a 2 " barrel. and a great trigger. I saw one last week and said, if it shoots as good as it looks and feals then S&W has some real competition on its hands. I rate the 642 a 10

accurate, smooth, reliable, feels good and funn to shoot. Just remember a 2" barrel gun is a close range gun. 3 to 5 or 7 yards max. Also try and use the speer 38 SPL+P short barrel ammo for personal defence.
