For my first .22 lr semi-auto, I studied hard and decided to go with the state-of-the-art Walther P22. It is one of the most interesting looking guns in the market, the flat black version with the 3.4" barrel. It feels like a James Bond gun, part of the allure, mind you. German engineering and a great bloodline. Well, sometimes you swing for the fence and the baseball just dribbles right up to first base for the easy out. Yes, it's sexy, but... most definitely not a CCW weapon (it just might not fire).

Well, when it shoots, it shoots OK. It's not a Browning Buckmark, Ruger Mark II or Smith 422. They shoot well when done right. It misfeeds and is picky about ammo. If the front barrel bushing is not correctly tightened (no spec from the factory) your accuracy can go to heck real quick. Sights are good, but then, you'll need them. Very confortable in the hand, though. Did I say it looks great?

Double action is good... really, not a bad trigger. Single action is great. Safety needs a red dot, not F and S. You have to think like a German... should I put the lever over fire to make it fire or should I let the lever show "F" for fire???? Size is very good. Just not accurate as I like and misfeeds. I'm not as concerend about a misfeed on a .22 semi that I'm using just to punch holes in paper, but who wants it to be the point where it is annoying?
